Frequently Asked Questions
You are welcome to come and visit us, however, please contact us first to arrange the best day and time.
A 'Settling in Session' occurs just before your child's start date. The aim is to offer your child an opportunity for a gradual introduction to our provision, other children, our activities, routines, and the staff. It helps your child to become familiar with our preschool, helping to feel confident and safe within it. It is also an opportunity to help children understand that you or your carers will always return to collect them.
If your child is attending for the whole day or attending an afternoon session, you will need to provide your child with a packed lunch.
No lunch is required if you child is being collected before 12pm.
Of course, you can push back the start date back however you will need to let us know as soon as possible.
You may be able to bring the start date forward depending on your child's age (the earliest date your child can start is the term after their second birthday).
Please, contact preschool to further discuss all the available options.
We do ask that you provide your child with a bag of spare clothes in case of accidents, or messy play.
Wellie boots and waterproofs are also needed. We are a free-flow setting meaning that children always have access to the outdoors and can go out whenever they please.
We do ask that all of the above is labeled with your child's name, to help your child find their belongings and to avoid personal clothing becoming lost.
You can change your child's hours, e.g. a drop-off time (8.30 am or 9am) or a pick up time (3:00 pm or 3:30 pm) or change from a full day to a half day attendance. You can also change the days your child attends, however this is subject to availability.
When you first join us, you will be asked to fill out a form asking what sessions you will be wanting in each term, giving you an option to gradually increase the number of session your child will attend.
If you would like to make changes, please contact us, and we will try our best to accommodate you.
Yes.
Your child will need to attend at least one full day or two half days (e.g. two mornings). We do however encourage more sessions, as we find that children settle better and form stronger relationships with their peers and staff when attending more often.
Yes.
We have a number of children that do attend other settings as well as coming here. However we do recommend that a child attends only one setting if possible.
Each setting has different rules and routines and this can become confusing for a child. Children usually settle quicker and form stronger relationships with their peers when attending one setting only.
However, we understand that this is not always possible and we will support your child to help with any adjustments.
No.
We do not have a catchment.
Majority of our children progress to Swanmore Primary School.
