IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS OF SWANMORE PRE-SCHOOL

YOUR 3 YEAR OLD CHILD IS ENTITLED TO FREE, PART-TIME EARLY YEARS EDUCATION - EXTENDED FLEXIBLE ENTITLEMENT - PATHFINDER PROJECT

Your child's entitlement will increase from 12 1/2 hours to 15 hours a week for 38 weeks a year (within Hampshire school term times as now).

You will be able to use the hours flexibly.  You can stick with the current pattern of 2 1/2 hours for up to 5 sessions a week if you wish, but it might suit you better to have a different pattern.  For example 3 hours every day, 5 hours on 3 days, 9 hours on one day and 3 hours on each of two other days.

It will be important that you complete surveys about how the project is working for you and your child.  This is a condition of having the new entitlement, and will help everyone to get it right for the future.

THERE ARE THINGS TO BEAR IN MIND:

  • The hours must be between 8am to 6pm - so not more than 10 hours maximum in any one day.
  • If you take the full 15 hours they must be spread over at least three days.
  • You will need to disucss the pattern you would like with staff and they will do their best to provide it.  They will ask you to confirm each term, in writing, the pattern of days and hours you have agreed.  Having made the agreement it will not be possible to change the number of hours which are being paid for by Hampshire County Council.
  • You can use the entitlement at one or two settings. If you use another setting be sure to tell both of them you want to split your child's entitlement so they can claim the correct amount of funding.  If the other setting is not on the pathfinder project they will be offering sessions of 2 1/2 hours, without flexibility.
  • The entitlement is free but if your child stays over a meal time you will need to either provide a meal from home or pay for the meal.  Also, if your child stays at the setting for longer than is covered by the entitlement you must pay for this additional time.  Your setting will have a published set of charges for meals and additional time.
  • Your child's extended flexible entitlement cannot be transferred to another setting if your child leaves, unless they go to another setting that is also on the project.
  • The project is exploratory - so some arrangements may change as new ideas are tried; we will keep you posted with any news.

Please speak to Debbie White for clarification on any of the above points
