• Swanmore Pre-school is situated in the grounds of Swanmore Primary School. We have been in our current, purpose built building since January 2011, however our pre-school has been running using various village halls and buildings for over 45 years. 
  • We operate from one main room, separated into different areas. We also have access to an enclosed free flow outdoor play area. 
  • Our provision is registered for up to 26 children, 2 years and 6 months old per session. We are also approved for Two Year Old Grants. 
    We are able to support children with special needs and English as an additional language. 
  • Our Pre-School is a Registered Charity, managed by a voluntary Committee of parents and is a member of the Pre-School Learning Alliance.  
  • All our Staff are fully qualified in Childcare, we have a qualified and highly motivated Special Needs Co-ordinator on hand when required.


We aim to provide high quality Pre-School education in a stimulating and fun environment for the children in our care. 

All our efforts are directed towards preparing the children for their future at School, both intellectually and socially.

As well as providing a safe and happy environment for our children, we also attempt to continually introduce stimulating new experiences for the children in order for them to develop new skills to equip them well for their start at Primary School.



In March 2016 Swanmore Pre-School has again achieved "OUTSTANDING" status.

This is our third Outstanding rating!


According to OFSTED :

  • Children flourish under the exceptional care and teaching of staff who strive to promote the best outcomes for each child. They place children at the centre of all they do and cater for each child's individual needs. Children are polite and respectful, and play and explore with extremely good confidence and enthusiasm.
  • The manager and staff focus extremely strongly on improving the communication and language skills for all children. This contributes significantly towards preparing children for their future learning experiences.
  • Staff create play areas filled with enticing activities and resources that children explore eagerly. Staff provide highly challenging activities that encourage children to learn to take risks safely and develop excellent physical skills.
  • Staff have an excellent understanding of how children learn and use their expert knowledge to plan a varied and highly imaginative range of play and learning activities.
  • Staff listen attentively and act quickly to seize learning opportunities.
  • Staff enable children to thrive as they promote their emotional and physical well-being extremely well. They ensure children are valued and respected as unique individuals. Children demonstrate an extremely strong sense of belonging and respect for others. They show a clear understanding of pre-school rules and their behaviour is exemplary.
  • All children develop the skills they need to be extremely successful learners and are very well prepared for the future and school.
